about

These are demos based on Lou and I jamming on bass and drums the first time we saw each other in person post reunion, summer of 2020. We played in Lou's uninsulated attic in sweltering heat - like a sweat lodge ceremony. I recorded it on my iPAD, four tracks, there was no snare drum the first of the two days we jammed - July 15th and July 16th. When I got back to Durham I cut the jams up into v-c "songs" that we could develop and starting adding guitar, synth, saz.

All but the last one of these songs are going to be on our new record. At the stage we're at now, it's clear that these early demos all have qualities that their later versions will not have as they naturally morph and evolve over time. Lou has also been sharing acoustic guitar and vocal versions of how he's approaching these songs as we work separately on his podcast etc, which made me less of the mindset to keep these cards close to my vest.
