Finishing records is much harder than starting them. This month I felt I should have been working on taking next steps with the next album I'm working on with my solo backing band the Cicadas to get ready for the next round of sessions with Rob, Justin, Wendy, and Alex. Instead I spent a lot of time writing new riffs and beats, the two things that come easiest to me.

Fortunately, engineer/producer/creative comrade Scott Solter came over last night. We listened through all the tracks on the next JD & Cicadas record, as well as snippets of albums we thought could offer inspiration, and took notes on next steps - mine are on the pages you see in the picture for this playlist. We clarified a lot of questions that had been on my mind. The good news is that some of the parts I was worried might need to be re-recorded were ones Scott successfully lobbied me to keep as is. So the odds of completing this record this summer are looking good!

Meanwhile, I did stuff I needed to do for the upcoming Folk Implosion single. So as April comes to a close, it ended up a not-so-bad mix of a musical month. And eventually some of these seemingly off-task tadpoles will grow up to be frogs, I know it.
